Circuit of the Americas First F1 Venue to Join Green Sports Alliance

2/14/2012--The Circuit of The Americas, a state-of-the-art multi-purpose facility in Austin, Texas, announced today that it has joined the Green Sports Alliance. It will host the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix™ on November 18, 2012, as well as the Texas Motorcycle Grand Prix and V8 Supercars in 2013.

February 2nd, 2012 --For the past 18 years, the NFL has been working to decrease the environmental footprint of the largest annual sporting event in the U.S. – the Super Bowl. Two years ago, we wrote about several initiatives aimed at reducing the events¡Ç impacts. Last year, we covered how Super Bowl XLV was slated to be the greenest NFL championship game in history. This year, the NFL is trying to outdo itself yet again by working with the Green Mountain Energy Company and the Indianapolis community to make Super Bowl XLVI the greenest yet. I talked with Jack Groh, Director of the NFL¡Çs Environmental Program, to get the details on this year¡Çs efforts.
2/6/2012--Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City will open the 2012 MLB stadium with a new 120-panel solar array that is now the largest in-stadium system in baseball. Expected to produce 36,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, the non-reflective solar panels are arrayed at the back of the ballpark and stretch around most of the outfield to most efficiently capture light and to prevent interference with the field of play.
